DICTIONARY OF APOCALYPSE is a project developed by artists and researchers Goda Palekaitė and Sina Seifee. They propose that critical remembering is needed for critical times, while apocalyptic imagination is penetrating our visions and dreams. The marriage of fear and imagination has a history as old as humanity. It is now that we have to consider the end of the world as a diversity of scenarios, which took shape at all times and across civilizations. Conquers, plagues and massacres were also forms of apocalypse, even the beginning of the world was one.
DICTIONARY OF APOCALYPSE started when, at the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis in Europe, the Belgian peer-reviewed online journal COLLATERAL invited a group of artists and intellectuals to contribute with their reflections on the situation. Palekaitė and Seifee were invited to write for the 24th issue of the journal. The project has since evolved into this independent platform and continues growing.

Goda Palekaitė is an artist working in the intersection of contemporary art, performance, artistic research, literature, and anthropology. Her practice evolves around projects exploring the politics of historical narratives, the agency of dreams and imagination, and social conditions of creativity. In recent years she has presented her work in solo and group exhibitions at the Konstepidemin (Gothenburg), Centre Tour à Plomb (Brussels), Swamp Pavilion (Biennale Architettura 2018 in Venice), Contemporary Art Center (Vilnius), Kunsthal Gent, The Institute of Things to Come, among others. In 2019, she received The Golden Stage Cross and the Young Artist’s Prize from the Lithuanian Cultural Ministry.

Sina Seifee researches as an artist in the fields of narrative, performance and knowledge production. He has been working on the question of technology and storytelling in the arts and sciences of the middle ages and the past-present of reading practices. He studied Applied Mathematics in Tehran, received his master in Media Arts in KHM Cologne and in 2017 finished an advanced research program in performance studies in a.pass.
